Bright Futures Coming

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.

The Icelandic band Of Monster, and Men and the dynamic Detroit duo called Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., are the bands that make me crave music. Do you know the feeling you get when your favorite TV show ends? That is exactly the sensation I get when I listen to these bands. Even on a quick walk across campus, on my way to class, I’ll schlep my iPod just to get my fix – maybe even stand outside of class for just a few more minutes also. However, the bands in today’s post have only a few sounds out there currently, but both have extremely bright futures coming.

Of Monsters and Men

Nanna and Ragnar, the voices behind the band Of Monsters and Men, breathe a refreshing life back into folk music. Especially the way the subtle beauty of Nanna’s voice and how it pairs perfectly with the sweeping guitar rhythms and the chorus of other instruments. With an album due out this summer, there is a lot to be excited about with this band.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.: Cheerios and Lysol

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is a band that has nothing to do with NASCAR, and sounds nothing like you would expect – which is exactly they want. The duo of Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein take their unsuspecting listeners to ultimate heights of indie pop. Each of the four songs on their EP, titled “Horse Power,” puts a wide smile on my face in utter anticipation of their full-length album dropping on June 7th. Until then, the band performed an in-studio performance at NPR that showcases their playful spirit and awesome sound. Go check it out.
