The Year in Music: Frank Ocean

The next series of posts are artists/albums/songs that I should have written about last year. The first artist I owe respect to is Frank Ocean, who has quickly emerged as an artist favorite in the hip-hop world. He has appeared on Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch the Throne, Childish Gambino has raved about him, and he has co-wrote songs for the likes of Beyonce, Beiber, and Brandy. His ambition is something to be marveled. He pretty much told his record label, Def Jam, to go to hell by releasing his mixtape on his tumblr. Read about it over at Pitchfork. Here are a few songs from the album that standout and a link to Frank’s Tumblr.
