After the time my understanding of music had shifted, from commodity to a primary means of self-expression, there still remained two untapped genres that alluded my former sensibility. Country and folk music and I did not seem to have any common ground – there are hardly any suburban vagabonds. However, over the past year I have made significant inroads into the discovery of the latter of the two genres. Folk has now taken up a significant roll as part of my identity, originating with the inspired Bob Dylan, and encompassing the more modern offerings of bands such as The Fleet Foxes, The Decemberists and The Tallest Man on Earth.
The Lumineers, then, are the continuation of this discovery. Some of my favorites are the rousing Oh Hey, and biting Morning Song.
